Sup homies?

Ok, do I have a great tip for you or what! I mean, who the flip wants to be Facebook buddies with celebrities? Just as you and me thought Facebook was supposed to bring everyone into the same penthouse… well I guess we thought wrong. If you don’t catch my drift, try sending a friend request to a well known celeb like Al Franken or Lindsay Lohan and watch it either get bricked or, even worse, expect to get reported for a violation you didn’t commit or get spammed to death.

Evil Kevin Rose

Anyway, I had a nasty experience that made me think twice about toying with the wrong folks, even for innocent reasons. Take Kevin Rose, founder of digg, for example. I sent a friend request to him in the hope that I could potentially interview him for a city newspaper. My request was flatly denied. Ok then, so I tried again, this time providing him with a personal greeting explaining the reason for my request. Now this is where it gets ugly. Just shortly after he denied my request for a second time (without even responding with a message as to why I should have no business on his sacred list) my account was rendered mysteriously “inaccessible” until further notice.

Hmm… coincidence? I really think not. Hey Kevin, ever heard of a limited profile? Do you think that the Facebook dev team has nothing better to do than to waste time concocting features to make our lives online more secure? Well, whatever happened was no accident and I am quite perturbed right now. If you wish to explain your reason to me Mr. Fancy Butt, I’ll be in the lounge!

P.S. Kevin, just so you know, you just got totally served… ;-)

UPDATE: What do you know. I guess the issue with my account was purely coincidental since it was a server side issue on Facebook. However… It doesn’t automatically excuse Kevin from a polite response on my facebook. :-P
